    Hiroshima Day
Uttam School for Girls observed the Hiroshima Day on 06th August, 2014. The event was organised in order to sensitise the students about the atomic bomb blast that took place in the Japanese city of Hiroshima, followed by another atomic bomb dropped on the city of Nagasaki in 1945. The day started with a special assembly by the students of Grade V-B. They gave information on the atomic bombing that took place in Hiroshima during the Second World War and the repercussions it had on the people. They highlighted the importance of peace and harmony for the betterment of humanity.

Students from grade V-A made paper cranes depicting the Japanese symbol of Peace and Harmony. These paper cranes were displayed on the display board arranged to form the sign of peace. Students from Grade V-C wrote letters to their pen pals who are Japanese children. Through these letters they gave their views on peace and world harmony.

Overall a knowledgeable day for all the students who also remembered and prayed for all the lives that were lost in Japan. They also pledged to follow peaceful means and promote harmony.
